Lubna Mousa is an Iraqi-Canadian artist based in Toronto, who expresses herself in abstract paintings through mixed media and acrylic on canvas or wood. Lubna explores the complimentarities and dichotomies in her past and present cultures, and is committed to sharing with and engaging others in her journey.
Lubna’s objective is to make artworks that reflect thoughts and images of everyday life, often by layering different materials and colors. In order to demonstrate the complexity or simplicity of our thinking, emotions and interests.
She credits migrating to Canada for causing a major shift in her perspective:
In recent years, I often find myself making works that address themes of climate change and sustainability. Meanwhile, my earlier works focused on themes of war, and culture.
